Live Active is a leading Scottish based leisure provider, delivering health, fitness and wellbeing opportunities for local communities on behalf of Perth and Kinross Council. They boast a range of venues and services for children and adults of all ages including swimming pools, an ice rink, gyms and sports halls across a number of sites.
Customer: Live Active, Blairgowrie
Facilities: Multiple washroom facilities and sites at leisure facilities catering for a wide demographic of washroom users
Purchase Driver: Cost saving and range simplification
Raphael Product: – VersaTwin Dispenser & 2 ply recycled tissue – Mechanical Hands Free Dispenser & 1 ply white recycled roll towel – Folded Towel Dispenser & 2 ply towel – Foam Soap Dispenser & Foaming Lotion Soap
With constant economic pressures on all purchased goods, utilities and services, Live Active highlighted cost savings as a priority when they approached their cleaning and hygiene distributor, BCHS, for a new washroom solution. Any potential solution also needed to ensure that facilities could robustly cater for high footfalls, without burdening staff with frequent replenishments.
Additionally Live Active were keen to simplify their procurement process and rationalise the number of products that they purchase and deliver a single washroom solution across all sites.
Live Active were presented with the Raphael VersaTwin™, a compact yet high-capacity toilet roll dispenser, holding two 125m recycled 2 ply toilet rolls. It features an innovative infinity paper system which enables facilities to replenish new rolls without risk of stub roll waste.
The team at Live Active believed the VersaTwin™ dispenser was the perfect fit, offering a higher capacity than the previous dispenser, a sleek, smart design in-keeping with the washroom aesthetic and the promise of consumption and waste reduction.
The translucent dispenser front has also made the replenishment process more efficient. Previously, employees had to open each and every dispenser to judge if rolls needed replacing as dispenser was a solid colour. However, the Raphael range utilizes transparent fronts which enables dispensers to be checked at a distance, without opening the dispenser, saving valuable time for cleaning staff.
Similarly, for hand towel and soap needs, the team were presented with a Mechanical Hands Free dispenser and Foam Soap dispenser. Both dispensers have been able to successfully manage consumption control via the single sheet dispensing of the Mechanical dispenser and the portion control of the Soap dispenser.
After a comprehensive trial, the benefits were clear to see, and the range was rolled out across all the washroom facilities.
The team at Live Active commented:
“Welcoming so many visitors is always a challenge for our venues. The Raphael VersaTwin™ system has managed to reduce pressure on our staff, meaning that they are able to focus on other tasks, and we have managed to significantly increased product availability which has led to increased user satisfaction. We know the importance of the washroom experience – an unhappy visit may result in that person not visiting us again which impacts our long-term success. The VersaTwin™ has so far made a very positive impact on our washroom experience.”
“The installation ran very smoothly and without disruption, and all our washrooms now benefit from brand new dispensers, all of which was delivered at no cost to us.
“Our key priority at the start of this process was to reduce our washroom costs. To date, the Raphael system, across tissue, towel and soap, has reduced our spend by approximately 19%. We have also managed to significantly rationalise the number of products that we purchase, reducing from 17 products to just 4. This has made our ordering, stocking and general administrative duties much more straightforward.”
